imma say this….and I just want you to hear me out. Knowing that Kanan killed his own son, I don’t find it a stretch to believe that Raq is gonna murk Marvin. And ill be here with money on her books if she do. He is THEE worst. He gets sonned regularly by his little sister. His little brother took him down on the pavement and laughed at his chick being clapped down by some other nakers. His daughter don’t like him and his nephew don’t respeck him. If this naker don’t get his own “who shot marvin” storyline like Jamie, I’d be gobsmacked. So just when I was wondering why we have to keep visiting the doctor with Officer Epps, kanans bloody snot rag appeared on his desk and the clouds parted….of course kanan is his son. Why else would we give a fuck bout this dude? No reason I could think of, but hey….Ive always liked Omar so Im glad he’s still working. Speaking of clouds parting, how Famous don’t know Jukeboxx is gay? I mean I guess we all dressed like nakers back in the day, but we aint carry ourselves like them. Juke is a dude. A dude that got her lil black ass heart broken and threatened to be exposed as a rapist…damn Karen! Thats a bit much, your lil karen jr was a willing participant. Im surprised it took yall all this time to kick in the door. Kudos on not being a typical white mama….wasnt NO doors being closed in my black ass house, but at least you entered without knocking. Poor Chad was lost but Im sure you got him up to speed and put some starch on his chinos when he found out his lil girl was put the L in the LGBTQIA+. Poor juke, but maybe, just maybe I won’t have to hear her sing for the 6th episode in a row. Raq is building a mini Carter, I like her style. I just wanna know why they didn’t cast the actual Jimmie Walker under the Save Elvin From Whole Foods Act, to play the project dude – especially since dude looked like him. that woulda been awesome. Her dumb ass brother gonna sit up and ask her when her and kanan moving in there. man somebody put a bullet in this fool for all of our sakes. Jesus he is stupid. Kanan, kanan, kanan, we learned so much about you this ep. Firstly, you are a virgin. Second Davina Greenleaf fucked you without a kiss….she got you going against your cousin and you aint even smelt it yet. Thirdly, you are a Leo….shoulda known. Fourthly, you cant fight, like most adult bullies. Fiftly, you don’t listen. You wanna be grown and have all this responsibility, but you cant follow directions. I don’t know what your mama is thinking teaching you how to cook crack, but we all know it aint gonna end well for you. its a twofer! when I get done writing this Imma write the next one so click the link at the bottom, myalogists! So I was just gonna do a brain dump on this but when I discussed it with my intended, he said this episode had a theme: Desperation. Upon further review, he was right. Before we get to that tho, I would like to give Unique his flowers for all his dapper dan gear. but I will take back one lone gangsta rose, cuz he was so desperate for revenge that he tortured his boy for no reason. He sat up there and tore his boys ear off and killed him and then turned around and said he knew Raq was behind his shipment being snatched, HUH? He literally told his boy the glass dick got them into this shit, and then said this shit got Raq name all over it, BOI O BOY the power writers never fail us, do they. Then his desperation led him to put stepped on dope out on the street, the fiends are not gonna be happy with this decision. White publicist lady is desperate if Marvin is the best dick she can get. And she begging that wack ass naker to cuddle with her….ugh. AND he repo’d her dog….granted she wasn’t taking care of it, but that aint the point! She went from Symphony to marvin who don’t even get a capital M in his name from me. What a fucking loser, the both of them. Speaking of lil big brother….his desperation led him allll amok this ep. Scooters bubble guts left him so desperate that he had NO other viable option than Kanan to assist him in moving the stash. Then when they spot got blown up by Unique’nem, this dumbass got so desperate that he found he had NO other viable option than to ram his car into the back of niq’s van and then found out after that didn’t work that he had NO other viable option than to shoot them THRU his window. SIGH. He then goes and finds niq’s one remaining boy bout to shoot his nephew and this time truly had NO OTHER VIABLE OPTION than to kill dude. His desperation leads him to try to hide all this from Raq, by finishing the move and letting his nephew clean up the mess. Jukeboxx whose portrayer very clearly went to the Kerry Washington School of Facial Acting, is so desperate for studio time and white puss that she engages in boosting and sitting up in them good white peoples house eating there bland spaghetti and their bland daughter. I did find myself wondering why she was boosting when her family has money but the next scene answered it, her daddy is a moron and a hater. Raq, my sweet beautiful Raq, is so desperate, only at times, to try and save her son that she puts him in her dicks class – damn that’s cold Raq. what’s the age difference on them nakers? cant be more than 10 years, but hey…..just like another beautiful single mama, she gotta have a life too. random desperations: Davina green leaf so desperate to get her mama back, she done sold out the gang. Crown Combs seems desperate for some mid Latina too. kanan so desperate to be a bad guy that he hides a blood stained shirt under his bed. Kanan Concepts 1.1
So that title could be a work in progress….im not sure about it, but Im a sucka for alliteration. Here we go! Firstly, I’d like to congratulate myself for recapping a show after the very first ep. If you follow me, you know that has never happened, so YAY MYA. Moving on…initial thoughts…..RAQUEL IS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL! And she is officially my favorite mom of the Power series. Tasha was dumb and limited. Monet don’t give a fuck bout her kids, but Raq….she wants better for her son and realizes she is powerless in changing who he is, so she gives in. Good? Nah, but at least she cared enough to try. Plus she is without hips like your favorite blogger and anytime I see a black woman who aint built like a Minotaur on teevee, I get amped. This premiere ep was all about introductions and establishing characters, so this recap will attempt to do the same. The main thrust of this ep, was that Raq is a boss, who was bequeathed power by her dead baby daddy or her now dead boyfriend…honestly can’t remember, but she’s it, so thats all you need to know. She has some brothers who are clearly gonna complicate her life, probably in a similar way that her son did in this first ep. As soon as I saw them sitting in that diner, with all them windows, I said to my intended, a shootout is a coming….and didn’t it come. It was a warning to Raq from a rival dealer, Unique, which Raq understood, but Kanan did not. Raq met with Unique to dead the beef and carve out territory. Bet. Kanan still took that shit personal and snuffed out his romantic rival, Buck when he saw him on what he thought was Raq’s territory, which lead to Uniques folks shooting up Raq and Kanans’s abode. Although furious with him, this leads Raq to understand her son is a soldier not a student and she gives in to his desire to be part of their criminal enterprise, And thus begins the narrative push of this story, the third book of Power: Raising Kanan. Myalogy Minutes: The music and fashions are top notch! Sergio Tacchini suit anyone? YESSSSSSS They really want white people on these shows. I can go with the publicist, but Jukeboxx’s girlfriend is a stretch The Power team aint gonna be happy til I call PETA on them. First Milan (I think) killed Tommy’s dog and now Raq done nuked Bella? Shouts out to the old Dorito bag. Raq and Symphony is giving me strong Monet and Latino cop vibes Is Symphony also fucking white publicist lady? The opening song aint as strong as Big Rich Town, but it uses a Mary Jane Girls sample, so I won’t always fast forward thru it. See yall next week!
Powerful Thoughts 6.15 – The Grand(less) Finale.
Well we’ve reached the end of the line kiddos…kinda. And what a ride it was. Remember Lobos – how funny he was? Remember when they used to have hot sex scenes on this show? Remember Shawn and his dumb ass face? Remember Milan and his bespoke suits? Remember when they made Jamie an alcoholic and he killed that drunk driver? Remember the first time you heard Big Rich Town? Remember the first AUSA, nah, me neither. Anyhoo…during my reflection on this show, I realized that most issues could have been solved if someone just shared the tiniest bit of information, like say um, if some shithead kid woulda said “mom, I blackmailed Saxe into blaming dre for dad’s killing” instead of “its cool, I handled it, go to bed”, we would have never been treated to the sight of Tasha sans wig, but Courtney Kemp and her writing team have a love/hate relationship with their fawning public and a fervent need to remind us that “Power never Dies” or “Power never Ends” or whatever. So lets get into this final Power recap. Whooooo lawd this finale sucked ass. I dont think we needed to be treated to alternate versions of scenes like Tommy going to kill Tasha or Dre threatening her at the day care, or the Elisa Marie diner scene – we’ve seen these ad nauseum at this point. I will concede that it was interesting was thatOne thing I did take note of and with this show, im not sure if its lazy writing or brilliant, to have Jamie turn into……*cue dark music* BOY THIS NIGGA HERE HAD SOME ONE LINERS! “….and stop selling drugs.” “…tasha green, the half smart chicken head who’d still be in the hood if it wasnt for me.” “…and I cant believe you got your sister killed” “nigga how many times you lied to me?” “….very disappointed in you….again.” He was so purposely evil, it didnt even seem like the same person we’d grown to love/hate/lust after and I wondered if that was how he really talked to folks or if that was there perception of him. One thing I do know is that in that Tommy/Ghost death scene, my ears heard and my eyes saw (thru the magic of closed captioning, which I cannot watch teevee without), that he said “let HIM go.” We all know who him is now. Now on to the second pic of this recap…..which we will be using to describe plots points as weak as…… Tasha’s Edges Her fear that Ghost running for office would expose them all. Hasnt Ghost been investigated to death already? Dre gives Tariq the gun BEFORE he takes him to Truth cuz Tariq is so trustworthy. Tasha just got proof of Lakeisha’s duplicity on the kitchen table. The whole Tariq goes to school/teacher selling drugs thing ….that nigga dont go to school. A security guard just gonna ask Tariq if he knows anything bout a teacher selling drugs…yeah okkkkkk. THE ENTIRE Q RELATIONSHIP When it happen? How long its been going on? Why it happen? Why was she shocked to see him with a gun? Why she need to be there fucking dude when the cops came a knocking? Why they drive past a very visible Truth? Why Tasha tell him she knew a short cut when they’d past Truth 45 minutes prior? Does Truth have not ONE security camera? Does Truth have not ONE locking door? Tariq just gonna change his murder clothes at Truth with sirens blaring? And why did he leave said clothes and his bookbag AT Truth in a fucking garbage can with Saxe and Det Rosie Perez RIGHT THERE TO SEE HIM? Why would a person trade away their shares to a club in exchange for a college education that he clearly could have gotten without trading away a financial future? How in the ENTIRE FUCK could Saxe be welcomed back into office, Mak’s cosign notwithstanding. HOW does a married woman get NOTHING? I could go on with the Tasha’s Edges Plot Points, but why? TARIQ KILLED HIS FATHER That’s really all you need to know. Myalogy Minutes: Soon as I saw Q in the credits, I knew how this was gonna play out. Oooh look, Tariq in a durag – he’s a tough lil gangsta aint he? Tariq: just dont hang her off a buildingTommy: thats just for family. I FUCKING HEART TOMMY. If Pink Panther dont get her ass up outta here in that fugly assed suit. Werent the feds supposed to leave Jamie alone after that whole wrongful murder conviction? These people have never heard of the state of Illinois if they think holding political office will shield you from the long arm of the law. Here this lil bitch goes with the “you confess dad” why does he think he’s entitled to know his parents past misdeeds? why he aint mad at his mama like he’s mad at his dad? NIGGA YOU AINT EVEN KNOW BREEZE…chill your balls, lil one. Who else was hoping for Ghost to dogwalk Tariq just one time for our minds? How Tasha get her keys back to Ghosts whip? Q – like Paz – should have known better than to have a gun just laying or is it lying around when he has a true toddler in his home? Tariq displayed some smarts by not texting his mother a murder plot. 50 and them day glo chiclet teefus just had to show up, didnt he? GHOST? How your son gonna go on the campaign trail with you when he’s in prison, make it make sense WRITERS. Ghost shoulda tackled that fool soon as he saw that gun. All this agita cuz Tariq’s daddy left his mother for another woman. What the fuck was Saxe doing at Truth? Do we REALLY have to suffer thru Saxe trying to take Tariq down in the BOOK OF GHOST? Powerful Thoughts 6.14 – The Tate Brothers
I waited #24 hours to write and post this out of respect to one of the greatest to ever do it….Kobe – and all the others who perished, you will be missed. Larenz got LAHmaRD or whatever his name is, a job. A job where their probably real life dynamic played out. The blessed older brother clashes with the workhorse younger brother. A stretch if ever one existed. Thanks for reading, thats it. God Bless. Kidding..kind of. Upon first viewing of this ep, I thought it was another wasted opportunity, kinda like Paz, but with more investment, cuz we’ve been watching Alderman Larenz do his thing for a couple seasons now. Howsinever, I watched – for the first time – Power Confidential, where they essentially told me, explained a couple things, like how powerful Larenz’s performance was. Which led me to re-watch and I agree. I love Larenz Tate and why he doesnt get more flowers, Im confused about. One of our earliest scenes is with Ceddy Bear and his son Ceddy Bear Jr getting their literal Shylock (look it up) on by securing a pound of flesh from a child molester, who they soon go on to kill. They soon get a call from Larenz asking for the Ceddy Bears to come kill Ghost. They happily accept! This ep finds Alderman Larenz and his requisite Black Man Hoodie on the run! He goes to see Lorette, goes to the Church House of the On The Take Reverend. He goes to meet with the Ceddy Bears to get them to stop the hit on Ghost after a visit from Det. Rosie Perez, who wants to work with Larenz to jail Ghost. The meeting with the killers doesnt go as planned, as Ceddy Bear Sr was all “I aint ride all the way up here listening to Charlie Pride for no damn reason. Either we kill the target or we kill you.” Seems like a pretty easy choice. We then get treated to the full scope of the warehouse shooting. Ceddy wasnt working for the EYEtalians…he was freelancing! And got killed for all his trouble, which sends Ceddy Bear Jr (CBJ) on a murderous mission. All this time, for some reason, Larenz is staying with his brother, earnest NYPD Cop, KaHMaRD and his family after a drunken night. This is where CBJ catches up with Larenz and gives the big villian speech about killing Larenz and why and why the caged bird sings and what Tribe is saying on Electric Relaxation, before KaHMaRD gets the drop on him and sends him to see his daddy. Awww, I love family reunions. Oh, I forgot to mention him swinging by Truth to give Jamie the heads up about the hitters coming his way, which Jamie HILARIOUSLY rebuffs. “You bitch ass just dont know when to quit,” Jamie tells him and one squirt of pee came out as I laughed at that line. Ahem….So Alderman Larenz and Cop KaHMaRD are going to report the shooting, which was clean as far as the cops are concerned, when little brother gives big brother the speech he probably wanted to give his whole entire real and acting life. He tells him how lucky he is and how things have always worked out for him and it occurs to me that any one of these characters could be talking to Ghost. I wondered if thats what drew them to each other. Ghost always wins….until this whole getting murdered thing. After leaving the police station, KaHMaRD gets a call about a shooting at Truth where they learn of a fatality. Larenz is shook as he just paid Dre to go kill Ghost and its looking like thats what happened. He gets interviewed on scene and gives a rousing speech that his prompts a “this nigga” look from his brother, who can smell the bullshit a mile away. He later gets a visit from Lorette and the DNC guy who offer to make him LT. Gov in the wake of Ghosts death and he laughs in their faces….the DNC now needs him, he dont need the DNC. Its GOVERNOR or nothing. DNC agrees. Alderman Larenz gets the nom and gives a rousing Obama like speech. NEW YORK LEADS THE WAY! Myalogy Minutes: Larenz looked like he came on himself when Det. Perez came and said she wanted to work with him to take down James. That coffee shop bukkake scene was some mess. The Return of Stern! I LOVE TO SEE IT. It was nice to see him get back at both Ramona and Curly Head Light Skin. He straight told her to get her shit and try to catch Ramona. LOL I’d like to mention the part where he learns dre has been killed in jail, but I saw it so long ago, I cant remember where that falls in the ep, but yes, he learns Dre was killed in jail, which clears the way for him to get to Albany. So here we are, at the end of the line, with only one ep of our show left. MY PREDICTION: Tariq shoots him, Tasha arrives and snatches the gun from her son, just in time for Tommy to look up and see her holding it, which prompts his angry reaction. Whatchall Think?
Powerful Thoughts 6.13 Let it go or Let her go?
Hey Kiddos, we are in the final stretch here, with two episodes to go before Aunt Mary and Zaddy Meth pick up the mantle and give us whatever Courtney Kemp has left to give in Power 2: Book of Ghost. But wait, before we do, lets send off my favorite white boy and yours, Thomas Patrick Egan Teresi in a right proper way – One befitting of all his cold ass outwear looks he served over the years. BUT, and its a Kardashian sized one, before we start what did Ghost say when Tommy came to share his final moments with him? Let it go? or Let HER go? Quite different outcomes here. Some eagle eared (is that a thing) viewers heard let HER go, while some hearing deficient viewers (HEY MYA HEY) watched with the captions on (NOT THIS TIME FOR ME) and read LET IT GO. Based upon the spoiler 50 gifted us with and some frantic ass posters shared, im thinking it was let HER go, but im not a losing attention seeker, so I wont be sharing what I think was said here, but hey….its out there is you want to spoiler a show you’ve spent 6.5 years watching. Back to Tommy….. We open the show seeing what happened to poor Uncle Benny – he’s compacted in the ambulance that Holly – and I was wondering why she was in the opening “PREVIOUSLY ON POWER” – suggested Tommy get to launder his money. He then goes to see his mother prompting me to write in my notes “SHUT THE FUCK UP KATE,” which I will find myself saying many times throughout this ep. Elisa Marie: unfortunately for us, this plot line is indicative of the corner the show painted Tommy in. I really dont care about her and as evidenced by her Aunt leaving her when she said she didnt want to be alone and the body guards that mysteriously disappeared after Vincent was killed, but Tommy was still on the loose, no one else does either. What’s interesting to me, is that, after all Tommy did to her, killing her father and her uncle, kidnapping her, subjecting her to Kate’s white girl braids, telling her the truth bout her frand Tariq, shit talking her bout her dad, for some reason, she frees him. Somebody gotta make that shit make sense to me because at current, it absolutely does not. And them bonding over their junky moms aint gonna do it. HE KILLED HER FATHER. PeriodT. Also, what aint gonna do it for me, is the structure of these final eps….how much more stress would you have felt for Tasha when Tommy rolled up on her with the truth about LaKeisha’s death if you didnt know that she lived to show up at Trust Attorney Elvin’s office. There was no benefit to that scene knowing she lived. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. And so what ends up happening to our boy after dropping Elisa Marie off? Im not really sure because the timeline is kinda effed up to me. However, I do know that he went to Truth to tell his bruddah he loved him and to possibly kill his killer, only to be stopped by a bloodied Ghost, which says to me, the killer has to be someone he cares about, cuz I doubt he would stop Tommy from killing Saxe or anyone other than Tasha or Tariq. His next stop was off to Kate’s, who again prompted me to write SHUT THE FUCK UP KATE. Telling your own flesh and blood who you just asked for an 8ball how they aint shit is some Trump level parenting (to his sons, not his lover Ivanka). I mean how much longer is that money gonna last, Kate? You will be looking up your son in LA in no time flat. The final shot of our boy, in that Rick Owens jogger, riding off in his blue bitch that was restored to greatness by his brother, left me dropping one lone gangsta tear. Myalogy Minutes: Does anyone other than my deaf ass need the captions to discover what TwoBit is saying at any given time? EM knows bout proof of life, but cant tell her buddy Tariq is a liar. Tommy in LA is a show I would def watch. At least we know Tariq wants his father to die at his hands loves his father enough to not sell him out to the Italians. Why would Aunt Bennie think a 17 yr old she never met would be capable of the things his rotten 17 yr old ass certainly is capable of? I mean we know Tariq, but she dont. And how she know the back door was left unlocked and everything else she confronted him with? Tommy goes to Truth during the campaign event and lo and behold, TRUTH DOES HAVE SECURITY! Wow, whodathunkit? WTF IS GOING ON WITH GHOSTS HAIRLINE? Ced the Entertainer is a hitta for the Italians. OKAY. Power: Revenge of Paz’s Funky Bubble Coat. Tariq and his reasons for wanting to kill Ghost are so fucking immature. He lied. SO FUCKING WHAT KID. You lie too. Kill the villain soliloquies…just shoot the mofo and stop telling them WHY you are killing them. Spotswood caught that capital L right to the eye. Speaking of Spotswood, why was he just walking round eating hohos and drinking strawberry quick? PROTECTIVE CUSTODY ANYONE? Courtney, nice throwback to Kill Bill dialog about EM coming to find Tommy when she grows up, like The Bride told Vivica’s kid…and by nice, i mean lazy. I be too lost at times, maybe I should watch Power Confidential, but only if Terrence J aint in them silky rayons everyweek. MINI SPOILER ALERT: Tommy was on the radio here in Chicago, over the weekend and said that the killers name starts with T – Tate, Tasha, Tariq. Whatchall think?
Powerful Thoughts 6.12 – Paz Be Still
Seriously Paz, be still. Stopping running all over town with a gun in your bag, in a big ass coat that gotta have you stankin, making ugly faces….shits unseemly, b. WHOA. After such a phenomenal mid season debut, we have this fucking stinker of an episode. I dont even know where or more importantly why to start this recap, but I should warn you, if you liked it, just gone and share this post and leave, cuz this aint for you. “Am I gonna get to go back to school””I am gonna kill Ghost!””Am I gonna get to go back to school”” “I am gonna kill Ghost!” “Am I gonna get to go back to school” “I am gonna kill Ghost!” “Am I gonna get to go back to school” “Someone killed ghost””So now do I get to go back to school”……and now you have experienced the entire show. Sadly, I dont have much else to add other than the following random thoughts, which really could be added to Myalogy Minutes, so let’s just get right to it. Myalogy Minutes: What is it with these Valdez women thinking they can show up to Tasha’s home? Be workin on my nerves with that shit. Thank goodness, USA DA or whatever his title is Goldenblatt said something bout taking down Saxe Trump, who apparently does whatever he wants without impunity. Paz needed a better hiding place for that gun with a young man and a demented man in her home. Titi’s nephew: DO YOU EVEN CARE THAT YOUR AUNT WAS MURDERED or do you just want to be able to go back to school? I think we got our answer. Paz, what was the point of ruining Angela’s reputation? Oh right, it was pointless…just like this episode. Um scuse me FBI man, shouldnt you be handing the file with Angie’s phone info on it to, um, I dont know, THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL and not the dead woman’s sister? One would think after multiple shootings at Truth, Jamie woulda got some metal detectors up in that camp. Detective Rosie Perez just knew when and where to roll up on Paz to deliver some bad news. Thats some good detectin! Paz ran straight to her sisters killer to ask him to kill her sisters killer. We love to see it. NYC aint got conceal and carry, they got conceal and reveal. I saw that gun out and exposed – ALOT. Thanks Team Power Writers for wasting our time watching Paz following Jamie around Truth. Just close the whole damn US Attorney’s office, since EVERYONE gets fired from there. All their cases should be overturned at this point. Seeing Detective Rosie Perez with that black eye just gives me joy – calm down, it wasnt a domestic injury, ladies. TRUST ATTORNEY ELVIN! So all this time, Paz been worried bout the money and we know where her kids mind has been and all of that, to turn down the money – bitch please. Why Tasha have that Michael Jackson jacket on? and OOOOOOOOOOOOOH Tasha, why you snitching on Tommy? Tommy done gave Paz a full body convulsion by movin out on her. Speaking of Tommy, I miss him. Where he at? 3 episodes and 5 suspects left….whatchall think?
Powerful Thoughts 6.11 – Dre Day
What’s up kiddos? First post of the year and decade! WHOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO! Watch out for me….to get totally uninspired and stop writing again – lol, who am I kidding? Consistency is not my strong suit and let’s be honest, Im not nearly as effective as Dre as making the most out of a day, so enjoy this recap, as who knows when the next one is coming! Firstly, am I in the minority here when it comes to enjoying how it seems this season is gonna play out? Now when the ep first came on, I thought I was having an aneurysm or mayhaps the <redacted> I was <redact – hey wait, its legal now in Illinois! So continue, mayhaps the MARIJUANA I was smoking was too strong, cuz I was sitting there like, didnt I see all this before? Then EUREKA! They were replaying key points and mixing them with heretofore unseen footage to let us know how Ghost’s final day played out from the various suspects in his murder. Me likey! Almost starts a prison fight. Gets sprung by Det. Rosie Perez Escapes federal custody Had a come to Jesus talk with his mother while getting a gun pulled on him, and subsequently pulling that same gun on her Went back to Tates for the ID’s and money Started driving into his future before his greed got the best of him and he turned around to go kill Ghost at Truth at Larenz’s request. Pulls up in time to hear Ghost shot and to run smack dab into Det. Perez. Cold cocks Det.
