Lowkey Cliche

“Now here come all the armchair television writers” – some arrogant blue checker.   YEP!  HERE I AM, FROM MY COMFY ARMCHAIR!  GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS BITCH! Now, when I first arrived at Insecure Season 4, I sat down with my reefah and my notepad and pen ready to take notes and recap the season for you. But from the moment Issa told an unknown-til-later Nathan, that she didn’t really fuck with Molly anymore, I felt this season would be different for me personally.  You see, two of my oldest friends and I aint really fucking with each other right now and I wanted to experience this journey in the purest means possible.  No notes, no recaps, no echo chambers, just a straight hit.   So imagine my dismay at whatever in the Name of The Game fuckshit Prentice Perry, show writer, director and producer of Insecure, dumped in my lap last night. Oh Insecure Finale, how did I hate you….let me count the ways. Where do I start?  HMMM how bout just off the top of my head, in no order of true significance. Firstly, that scene with the cops? What the fuck was that?  A tip of the hat to current events? A sly ‘not all cops are bad” move? It felt weird as fuck in the middle of what was happening.  Plus didn’t we do the whole cool cops shit a couple of seasons ago? When the cop pulled Lawrence over and then let him go as they bonded and ki-ki’ed over college rivalry? Is this a cop propaganda show?  I get enough of that from the internet and its bounty of cops hugging lil black kids/nakers doing the line dance du jour with the boys in blue. Now’s not the time…stand down. Secondly – this show and its depiction of mental illness, while laudable, needs some work.  Nathan’s clinical diagnosis was just a one or two line off and although the bread crumbs off Tiffany’s post partum issues were left out for us to follow, I don’t think it was covered to the degree of time that the FUCKING FINALE dedicated to it.  Like SERIOUSLY, we had so many issues to follow up that dedicating 20 minutes of a fucking 30 minute show was a fucking no. And how many of us wanted someone to come from behind that door behind towel clad Tiffany.* *An Aside a last night Penny was on Twitter stating how Derrick was def the daddy of Tifs baby. Does anyone remember when they were watching the finale of the slave show and derrick said tif was at Issas, when she clearly wasnt? Why dey do dat huh? If it wasn’t important why throw that our there?so yeah, I wanted tif to be having an affair, if they wanna blow up anybody’s relationship, blow up dat one…NOT ISSA AND LAWRENCE.   Dear Producers, Writers, Directors and Cast of Insecure,  I will not suffer thru the indignity of y’all trying to make me relive Melanie/Derwin/Janay.  That dynamic destroyed a show I loved and I will not watch you take you from me.  Love, Mya Why would they do this? How fucking lazy a trope is the baby daddy shit? Why saddle Lawrence with that moniker? And to all the father’s getting their tighty whities in a bunch, im not talking bout you and your great parenting, okay? Im pretty sure Lawrence would make an amazing dad like each and every man reading this right now but why use it to introduce conflict into his newly re-formed relationship with Issa? Couldn’t the distance have accomplished the same?  And again, didn’t The Game do this same shit? No one wants and nobody asked for no got damned break baby! Some of us have lived this, watched our friends go thru this, or know somebody who has.  When folks say they l like to see themselves on screen, I doubt this is the experience most of us want to relive.  The bus shit was dumb.  Why the fuck would they have been on the bus? Even Issa, as the “broke” friend has a car. Nothing that happened on the bus was funny and Dereks friendship speech that was meant to telegraph Issa and Molly fell flat for me. All the overt knowing glances Man miss me with that. And im not even gonna address that button shit. Nathan and the shop? Don’t get me wrong…I like ol social justice warrior in real life Nathan and I find his presence sooting on the show, but again, in a finale, what the fuck was that stop in the barbershop for? Nathan had already told her how he felt and she told him how she felt ONE EPISODE ago, so why we need to see the very small back room of his shop where, she’s….gonna have an event? Or was that the meeting space about the event? Lets go with the latter over the former in the interest of my mind not totally exploding. Molly’s situation with Andrew was satisfying….if he walked it out on her.  Molly’s a trash person – I implore you to watch the show again if you disagree, and after watching if you still disagree, hit me up and Ill remind you how she fucking igged the fuck out of her father for having an affair while she was having one – and she’s displayed zero growth since she Toni Childs’ed her ass up on this show.  Getting a new job aint growth fam.  Finding a purpose, as Issa has, is. Molly is super selfish. That shit with Andrew’s family was so overwrought. He shoulda left her in Mexico. And he certainly should have left her after she denied his brother the opportunity to apologize.  I hope to fuck he left her ass….which leaves her…. Caling up Issa….girl gone.  These two are the epitome of the type of relationships that form from long term friendships. Trauma bonds what they call’em.  They love the bond they have

Powerful Thoughts 6.13 Let it go or Let her go?

Hey Kiddos, we are in the final stretch here, with two episodes to go before Aunt Mary and Zaddy Meth pick up the mantle and give us whatever Courtney Kemp has left to give in Power 2: Book of Ghost. But wait, before we do, lets send off my favorite white boy and yours, Thomas Patrick Egan Teresi in a right proper way – One befitting of all his cold ass outwear looks he served over the years. BUT, and its a Kardashian sized one, before we start what did Ghost say when Tommy came to share his final moments with him? Let it go? or Let HER go? Quite different outcomes here. Some eagle eared (is that a thing) viewers heard let HER go, while some hearing deficient viewers (HEY MYA HEY) watched with the captions on (NOT THIS TIME FOR ME) and read LET IT GO. Based upon the spoiler 50 gifted us with and some frantic ass posters shared, im thinking it was let HER go, but im not a losing attention seeker, so I wont be sharing what I think was said here, but hey….its out there is you want to spoiler a show you’ve spent 6.5 years watching. Back to Tommy….. We open the show seeing what happened to poor Uncle Benny – he’s compacted in the ambulance that Holly – and I was wondering why she was in the opening “PREVIOUSLY ON POWER” – suggested Tommy get to launder his money. He then goes to see his mother prompting me to write in my notes “SHUT THE FUCK UP KATE,” which I will find myself saying many times throughout this ep. Elisa Marie: unfortunately for us, this plot line is indicative of the corner the show painted Tommy in. I really dont care about her and as evidenced by her Aunt leaving her when she said she didnt want to be alone and the body guards that mysteriously disappeared after Vincent was killed, but Tommy was still on the loose, no one else does either. What’s interesting to me, is that, after all Tommy did to her, killing her father and her uncle, kidnapping her, subjecting her to Kate’s white girl braids, telling her the truth bout her frand Tariq, shit talking her bout her dad, for some reason, she frees him. Somebody gotta make that shit make sense to me because at current, it absolutely does not. And them bonding over their junky moms aint gonna do it. HE KILLED HER FATHER. PeriodT. Also, what aint gonna do it for me, is the structure of these final eps….how much more stress would you have felt for Tasha when Tommy rolled up on her with the truth about LaKeisha’s death if you didnt know that she lived to show up at Trust Attorney Elvin’s office. There was no benefit to that scene knowing she lived. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. And so what ends up happening to our boy after dropping Elisa Marie off? Im not really sure because the timeline is kinda effed up to me. However, I do know that he went to Truth to tell his bruddah he loved him and to possibly kill his killer, only to be stopped by a bloodied Ghost, which says to me, the killer has to be someone he cares about, cuz I doubt he would stop Tommy from killing Saxe or anyone other than Tasha or Tariq. His next stop was off to Kate’s, who again prompted me to write SHUT THE FUCK UP KATE. Telling your own flesh and blood who you just asked for an 8ball how they aint shit is some Trump level parenting (to his sons, not his lover Ivanka). I mean how much longer is that money gonna last, Kate? You will be looking up your son in LA in no time flat. The final shot of our boy, in that Rick Owens jogger, riding off in his blue bitch that was restored to greatness by his brother, left me dropping one lone gangsta tear. Myalogy Minutes: Does anyone other than my deaf ass need the captions to discover what TwoBit is saying at any given time? EM knows bout proof of life, but cant tell her buddy Tariq is a liar. Tommy in LA is a show I would def watch. At least we know Tariq wants his father to die at his hands loves his father enough to not sell him out to the Italians. Why would Aunt Bennie think a 17 yr old she never met would be capable of the things his rotten 17 yr old ass certainly is capable of? I mean we know Tariq, but she dont. And how she know the back door was left unlocked and everything else she confronted him with? Tommy goes to Truth during the campaign event and lo and behold, TRUTH DOES HAVE SECURITY! Wow, whodathunkit? WTF IS GOING ON WITH GHOSTS HAIRLINE? Ced the Entertainer is a hitta for the Italians. OKAY. Power: Revenge of Paz’s Funky Bubble Coat. Tariq and his reasons for wanting to kill Ghost are so fucking immature. He lied. SO FUCKING WHAT KID. You lie too. Kill the villain soliloquies…just shoot the mofo and stop telling them WHY you are killing them. Spotswood caught that capital L right to the eye. Speaking of Spotswood, why was he just walking round eating hohos and drinking strawberry quick? PROTECTIVE CUSTODY ANYONE? Courtney, nice throwback to Kill Bill dialog about EM coming to find Tommy when she grows up, like The Bride told Vivica’s kid…and by nice, i mean lazy. I be too lost at times, maybe I should watch Power Confidential, but only if Terrence J aint in them silky rayons everyweek. MINI SPOILER ALERT: Tommy was on the radio here in Chicago, over the weekend and said that the killers name starts with T – Tate, Tasha, Tariq. Whatchall think?

Powerful Thoughts 6.12 – Paz Be Still

Seriously Paz, be still. Stopping running all over town with a gun in your bag, in a big ass coat that gotta have you stankin, making ugly faces….shits unseemly, b. WHOA. After such a phenomenal mid season debut, we have this fucking stinker of an episode. I dont even know where or more importantly why to start this recap, but I should warn you, if you liked it, just gone and share this post and leave, cuz this aint for you. “Am I gonna get to go back to school””I am gonna kill Ghost!””Am I gonna get to go back to school”” “I am gonna kill Ghost!” “Am I gonna get to go back to school” “I am gonna kill Ghost!” “Am I gonna get to go back to school” “Someone killed ghost””So now do I get to go back to school”……and now you have experienced the entire show. Sadly, I dont have much else to add other than the following random thoughts, which really could be added to Myalogy Minutes, so let’s just get right to it. Myalogy Minutes: What is it with these Valdez women thinking they can show up to Tasha’s home? Be workin on my nerves with that shit. Thank goodness, USA DA or whatever his title is Goldenblatt said something bout taking down Saxe Trump, who apparently does whatever he wants without impunity. Paz needed a better hiding place for that gun with a young man and a demented man in her home. Titi’s nephew: DO YOU EVEN CARE THAT YOUR AUNT WAS MURDERED or do you just want to be able to go back to school? I think we got our answer. Paz, what was the point of ruining Angela’s reputation? Oh right, it was pointless…just like this episode. Um scuse me FBI man, shouldnt you be handing the file with Angie’s phone info on it to, um, I dont know, THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL and not the dead woman’s sister? One would think after multiple shootings at Truth, Jamie woulda got some metal detectors up in that camp. Detective Rosie Perez just knew when and where to roll up on Paz to deliver some bad news. Thats some good detectin! Paz ran straight to her sisters killer to ask him to kill her sisters killer. We love to see it. NYC aint got conceal and carry, they got conceal and reveal. I saw that gun out and exposed – ALOT. Thanks Team Power Writers for wasting our time watching Paz following Jamie around Truth. Just close the whole damn US Attorney’s office, since EVERYONE gets fired from there. All their cases should be overturned at this point. Seeing Detective Rosie Perez with that black eye just gives me joy – calm down, it wasnt a domestic injury, ladies. TRUST ATTORNEY ELVIN! So all this time, Paz been worried bout the money and we know where her kids mind has been and all of that, to turn down the money – bitch please. Why Tasha have that Michael Jackson jacket on? and OOOOOOOOOOOOOH Tasha, why you snitching on Tommy? Tommy done gave Paz a full body convulsion by movin out on her. Speaking of Tommy, I miss him. Where he at? 3 episodes and 5 suspects left….whatchall think?

Powerful Thoughts 6.11 – Dre Day

What’s up kiddos? First post of the year and decade! WHOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO! Watch out for me….to get totally uninspired and stop writing again – lol, who am I kidding? Consistency is not my strong suit and let’s be honest, Im not nearly as effective as Dre as making the most out of a day, so enjoy this recap, as who knows when the next one is coming! Firstly, am I in the minority here when it comes to enjoying how it seems this season is gonna play out? Now when the ep first came on, I thought I was having an aneurysm or mayhaps the <redacted> I was <redact – hey wait, its legal now in Illinois! So continue, mayhaps the MARIJUANA I was smoking was too strong, cuz I was sitting there like, didnt I see all this before? Then EUREKA! They were replaying key points and mixing them with heretofore unseen footage to let us know how Ghost’s final day played out from the various suspects in his murder. Me likey! And wait, did I just say Ghost’s last day? They just threw that lil tidbit in there kinda nonchalantly, right? Almost like he MAY not be dead…..but we shall see in six eps, right? Now back to Dre and his day…..man the Army shoulda caught this nigga before Spotswood and Francis did, cuz he truly embodies the slogan “be all that you can be” – which was the Army’s slogan back in the day, a tidbit for my younger Myalogists. Now I feel great when Im up and out on a Saturday by noon, run one or two errands, pay a couple bills on line, order some food and back in by two. Just call me She-Ra out this bitch, but DRE? ANDRE? ANDRE COLEMAN? ANDRE MUTHFUCKING COLEMAN…nah….this man does more in one day than yall do in a two weeks. Join me on a rundown of his final day on Earth…. Started his day off singing the worse rendition of Rise N Shine to his daughter since Kylie’s version…Im sure Kris J is on the line to Fofty (spelling correct) for some form of royalties RET NAH. Has the requisite “Sin, lets just go to Africa” convo with his baby mama, who pretends to not know who she had a kid by. Goes to see Saxe and calls him a bitch ass nigga. Gets his entire network killed Gets shot Gets bitched out by baby mama Goes to his own mother’s church where she is the only person leaving at that exact moment and for some reason snatches her up by the shoulders like a raperman. Goes to Tasha’s to extort her “broke is broke ass” and threatens to burn her spot down. Meets Tariq for money, which Tasha got on the phone on Dre’s orders and asks for. Goes to Truth to extort Ghost. Goes to Councilman Larenz’s office to extort him, for new id’s for him and his chick. Gets arrested for Killing The Irishman, I mean the Serbian. Almost starts a prison fight. Gets sprung by Det. Rosie Perez Escapes federal custody Had a come to Jesus talk with his mother while getting a gun pulled on him, and subsequently pulling that same gun on her Went back to Tates for the ID’s and money Started driving into his future before his greed got the best of him and he turned around to go kill Ghost at Truth at Larenz’s request. Pulls up in time to hear Ghost shot and to run smack dab into Det. Perez. Cold cocks Det. Perez Stops at a gas station for knock off Funyuns and a stuffed animal at a joint not 39759387598759475 miles outside of NYC. Hears Ghost was killed via a gas station tv. Gets RE-ARRESTED Has another come to Jesus moment with his mother, baby mama and daughter Actually starts a PRISON FIGHT Gets put in solitary Got burned alive Had his song played over the ending credits of a show he was never intended to be on this long – shouts out to Rotimi. Now, tell me….wtf did yall do with the last 24 hours yall got? Im sure nothing near to what Dre accomplished with his. Myalogy Minutes: In my mind, Francis took a deal like his buddy Spotswood did and they are next door neighbors in sunny Arizona. Dre’s cattiness was off the meter this ep! Calling Saxe his rightful name: Bitch Ass Nigga Telling Tasha he would burn her spot down Telling Ghost to take the bass out his voice Telling Det. Rosie to hurry up with her lil papers If I was Tasha I woulda told that nigga to go head and burn this bitch to the ground…I got insurance! (lordT I hope she has insurance!) Why Ghost always need to be at the scene of the crime lurking like a god damn wavy haired ghoul? Speaking of Ghost…Planmaster J was in full effect this ep, even tho we only saw him a handful of time and thank God we didnt have to hear him tell anyone “So and so, I have a plan!” Up next seems to be Paz’s showcase….. whatchall think?

Powerful Thoughts 6.1 – Murderers

Remember how Ghost yelled at Dre, to GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO? Well that was me yelling at the tv when I heard young Trigger wailing over Joe’s smooth croon, cept I was yelling NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Im not gonna dwell on it, but can we start a gofundme for Joe to pay back fifty, cuz thats gotta be the reason the executive producer in petty had for changing out one of the few reasons to watch this dumbster fire of a show. And dont be stupid like Ghost, I know its dumpster. Lets get on with this, shall we? EVERYBODY HAAAAAAAAAAATES GHOST. Tommy hates Ghost. Tasha hates Ghost. Paz hates Ghost. Tariq hates Ghost. Keisha hates Ghost. Saxe hates Ghost. USADA Harry Goldenblatt will soon hate Ghost. Jason seemingly will hate Ghost. Dre hates Ghost. Councilman Tate hates Ghost. I hate Ghost. You hate Ghost. Ghost hates Ghost. COURTNEY KEMP IS A LIAR Okay if she’s not exactly a liar, she is guilty of misleading the fuck out of an unsuspecting public, as seen above in a screengrab of an interview she did with Deadline magazine at the conclusion of last season. Ol girl died approximately 30 seconds into the show, so while she wasnt technically dead at the end of season 5, she may have well been, unless she’s gonna appear as a ghost haunting Ghost, which is not beyond the pale of this show that had Kanan surviving a fire there is no way in hell he should have survived. Anything is bound to happen on this mofo. And listen, Im not mad she’s dead – I’ve been actively advocating for everyone on this show to die at one point or another and after Holly, Angie was number 2 on my death wish list. RIP Angie…who cares? THE WOMEN OF POWERSTER PLACE And then there were two. Tasha and Keisha. Alternately dumb and smart. OR should I have written Smart and Dumb? Tasha, comes to the smart conclusion that her love, Deliterious “Terry” Silver is dead at the hands of her for now husband. She smartly listens to this fool ass Ghost call Angie the woman he loves and somehow doesnt donkey kick his teeth down his throat. She follows up with smartly telling this fool she wants a divorce. Be like Tasha, Tasha is smart. On the other hand we have the dumb Keisha by Care Credit. Still dumbly (its a word for all intents and purposes of this blog) running up behind Tommy. Still dumbly doing his bidding. Dumbly accepting a gun that has a body on it. Dumbly putting it in her purse. Dumbly not getting rid of it asap. Dumbly letting her “son” almost get to the gun whilst awaiting waffles or pancakes or whatever he was waiting on her inflated ass to make him. Jesus, people. Don’t be like Keisha. Keisha is dumb. Myalogy Minutes: How dumb is Ghost gonna feel when he finds out Tommy is alive. Made that dumb sadface for no reason. Tommy, Crossroads? YOU FOOL. Get with your black voice coach for you to catch the beat and soul next time. How nice to see Keisha finally being a mother? Tariq how did this fool manage to get both his parents to give him time to do whatever the fuck it was he wanted to do, when he wasnt supposed to be in town anyfuckingway? Ghost and Tommy both need fighting lessons. Ghost stay outta that dead woman drawers please. Why didnt Tommy just tell his primeras that the shipment would be there that night? Poncho all dead for no good reason. Is USADA Harry Goldenblatt gonna be as annoying as all his predecessors? Showing up at Proctor’s daughter’s recital was a John Mak/Gregex P. Keaton/Ball Saxe type move. BARF. Whaddyall think?

Powerful Thoughts 5.7

Editors note:  Today’s featured image is all things to me…so much so in fact that I used it instead of my regular Power photo. Listen, I know Im deliquent with these recaps, even skipping some weeks here and there, but cmon…yall watching what Im watching….you get it. It doesnt really inspire me to be on time.  However, yesterday I got a note that I was fucking up and that of the five of you that read this, two of yall really really be looking forward to it, so I will do better.  This week, in my estimation, belongs to the ladies, so that’s where my focus is gonna be. The Gospel According to Angie Everyone’s most hated federal agent was dropping some dimes of TROOF, along with her draws this week.  Some of my margin notes include: “When people are in love they make bad decisions.” and “We’re not girlfriends exactly.” and “I was prosecuting criminals, now I am one.”  DANGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER! Who knew you were so self aware Angie, when you been running round doing horrible shit for years now.  I guess your awakening is better late than ever for you.  But even as she sees her situation with Jamie so clearly, she doesnt seem to grasp how much fucking shit she is in at her job.  She is in shit up to her eyelashes. She has shitlashes. It bears repeating weekly that the ONE phone call she missed from black lady fed boss was enough to turn her against Angie and the rest of the dicks at her job are oh so ready to feed that betrayal.  Last week, as black lady fed boss was telling them to wrap all this shit up, Saxe ran in with a piece of paper that connected every dot…I dont know what was on that paper, but seems kinda flimsy that as much as Angie was covering her tracks, one piece of paper was out there floating around to fuck her to all be damned.  So the feds, instead of suspending her/arresting her on the charge of logging in under black boy cops name to destroy evidence, are letting her flit around and think that finding Mak a new job is the end of her troubles, even tho black baldheaded fed told her literally to watch her six, cuz Angie…you is in danger girl. The Hand of Con Did Mrs. Teresi come thru this week for everyone or did she come thru. Firstly, we find out she is a supremely decent woman, like many long suffering wives.  She has been seen on multiple occasions asking Tony not to flip on his son, to no avail.  She also tells her husband she not only knows about his affair with that AK47 of a woman Kate, but she knows and has always known that they had a lovechild.  This admission rightfully earns Tony the title of this section – a smackdown from the Hand of Con.  I live to see a wrong ass nigga get slapped…sorry but it warms the cackles of my dark heart.  Actually Im not sorry bout that.  I LOVE THAT SHIT.  Connie was right on time as she sat down to dinner with her boys and suggested a BRILLIANT strategy for Tommy’s new money laundering bidness – an ambulance business.  Tommy eyes lit straight the hell up at that before a cloud of doom started to gather.  After being dissed by her son earlier in the day for his new daddy,  Kate made a beeline to the Teresi home like a jilted baby mama who “find my iphone”-ed her baby daddy to his new booty’s crib. She banged down that damn door and rushed in to find them having a straight up Father Knows Best dinner and she was NOT here for it.  She tried Con…tried to tell her that she was tony’s dip and tommy was his kid, but our Con already knew that.  Strike one. Then she tried to go the “this bitch” route, but I submit that Connie knows she’s a bitch and she wears that label like a badge of pride.  Strike two.  Then she tried to appeal to Tommy and Constance Mary Constanza Theresa Teresi told her to stop talking to HER SON.  STRIKE THREE, YOURE OUTTA THERE.  Literally…they threw her ass out the door after that one.  Ouch.  Connie….I hope Cancer knows what its up against. The Last Seduction of Tasha Tasha…poor, poor Tasha.  Unlike the long suffering Mrs. Teresi, her misery hasnt made her sharper, its dulled her.  Smarting from finding out Angela was the one that found the bullet at Ray Rays, Tasha comes home and announces to her husband and their girlfriend that her man, Silver, loves her more than her husband of at least 16 years ever did.  LOL WHAT? Okay, girl but Ill let you tell it.  She tells Planmaster J and his Latinx bed wench that she dont need any further machinations from them and the man with the plan is her man.  She’s gonna go to him and have him cover all their asses.  So off she and her box bounce, and Silver told her eff that noise.  GET YO COAT WE IS GOING DOWN TO THE POLICE.  After being accused of covering for James cuz she still loves him, she tearfully confesses that Tariq is the shooter and she’s just trying to protect her young black man of a son.  For an attorney, I swear that Silver is daft.  Just go to the police Tasha.  He wont get slammed.  You milk dud headed moron, HE KILLED A COP.  He relents and agrees to help her and Tasha then uses one of the few weapons in her arsenal and fucks him into complete and total submission.  Never one to let anyone do anything them damnselves, Jamie later springs into action.  He tells Silver that he knows he been fucking his wife and he better show up for her. Silver tried to play it tough, but Jamie lets

Powerful Thoughts 5.3

last week, I wanted to start the post with a joke bout how this show is juggling more balls than black chyna, but thats slut shaming so…………….. This week is all about T and A, and for all my T lovers, y’all winning! Sorry A people….imma need yall to level up like me and Ciara and get ya minds out the gutta…in this case the T’s are Tommy and Tasha and the A’s are Angela and Andre, ya filthy animals.  Lets start with the winners…shall we? Tommy Our boy seems back in some sort of good form this week…his brain seems to be firing on all cylinders and he aint with the shits.  Firstly, he made me L the F out L when he asked Ghost why the fuck he cant stay off the tv.  Good question.  He’s paying attention to his job responsibilites ie focusing on how to get Jason them ends.  He agrees to let Kanan in on the shipment, but ONLY if he pays first.  He showed loyalty to Tasha when he chased after her leaving his apartment and most importantly, he got them antennas up on Teresi doing his best Father Knows Best impersonation.  He knows something is awry, cuz why he wanna be family after all this time; and why he wanna play catch now; and why he talking all nice on the phone; and he had forever to snitch, so flipping dont make no sense…oy vey! Tommy is just as confused as I am bout his old man and at least that proves he’s thinking, which has been in dispute since he choked out Holly. Tasha “….nigga you betta kill me.” Come on thru mama bear….Tasha is not with any of the shits, not with her husband and his fuckery, not with Kanan putting his hands on her nor her kid, nor with Tommy not showing and proving he is HER family, like the countless times she’s proven she is his.  She absofuckinlutely correct about them not killing kanan.  He is directly responsible for the ruination of her son and the death of her daughter….and these fools sitting up playing pool together, calling each other cute nicknames and going for burritos.  Nah fam…kill this nigga and bury him in that denim bubble coat or dont, just kill him.  While Ghost is running round fucking some chick and Tommy is getting his mama high, this woman is dealing with her grief, protecting her son from the cops, colluding with her husbands ex-heaux, and breaking thru and connecting with her son in a scene that gave me all the feels, and some questions…why they arriving at Choate in the middle of the night and why Ghost aint there dropping his kid off at school? Plus she developed a heightened case of ESP, but more on that later….. on to the losers…. Angela In the last paragraph I called her a heaux, in this one she just a straight up hoe and a dumb one at that.  This woman and her box is bringing all the feds to the yard.  First Latin agent asks her if she’s fucking Diego Jimenez, as if that wasnt enough of a drag.  Then one of his underlings just happens to be in town, happens to bump into her, happens to mention his boss was talmbout her last week and THEN he invites her to dinner where he strains the fact that he’s only here one night.  Maam? Why the fuck are you at this dinner? With a complete stranger? And why when La Latin Cop Lady is all up in your kool-aid are you focused on anything other than her? Yet here you are post dinner in your skivvies, bout to give it up to a nigga that dont give a fuck bout you or your job.  Your two niggas ago nigga died, and then your last nigga ended up on death row and almost took you down with him. He wont stop blowing up your phone and he got you sharing tea and scones with the woman he would leave for you….its okay to take a chill pill and stuff it straight up your vag, fam. Andre Everybody like everybody more than they like you dre.  Kanan dont like you.  Ghost dont like you.  Tommy dont like you.  Tasha dont like you.  Glasses and Killer dont like you.  I doubt Christobal really likes you and we know for damn sure that Diego dont like your ass.  At this point, if you got shot, it would be a murder mystery.  You gonna die this season, but the only question is who will have done it?  You are losing a serious grip on your organization, even the black contingency.  Diego is speaking Spanish directly to Christobal, a skill you should have as a dope boy in NYC, which is a sure sign he dont respect you and you cant do shit about it except push glasses on the way out after being dismissed.  Poor tink tink, dont feel good to get usurped does it? and now on to the MVP ESP Did anyone have a better week than extra sensory perception? It lead Tasha to discover that her husband murdered someone she couldnt have thought he had any reason to murder.  It lead Angela to discover that La Jimenez was part of the organization, which she pulled right out her ass.  That ESP, I gotta get me some of that.  ESP is life. Myalogy Minutes: Did anyone else feel sexy when Kanan robbed Christobal?  Just me? Fine. I honestly forgot Truth was still Jamies. I honestly also never considered the ramifications of Raina’s murder, like the actual police investigation.  I like it being included in the story line. Dre and his boys look like “Our Gang” walking up in the spot…aint nobody scared of Spanky and Alfalfa. Can anyone hit me up and tell me how the Feds know Teresi is Tommy’s dad?  Was it on his birth certificate? Its horrible that

Dear Tasha,  I apologize. I still don’t really like you.  And your face still looks like you had some development issues in utero, but I am sorry for looking at you thru main chick eyes instead of just regular ol’ trying-to-make-it-the-best-way-we-know-how woman eyes.  XOXO, M.  With that unpleasantness out the way…. Lawasha And as quick as she came…Tasha, (no Trasha this week) is gone.  “Mya? What she did to kick herself out a relationship,” you ask?  She responded in kind to a man that acted like he wanted a relationship. HOW DUMB IS SHE to believe someone wants to be with her just ‘cuz he acting like he wants to be with her?! Stupid heffa.  It’s always enjoyable to see a man run from a woman once she’s out of a thong and in a head scarf.  Big funbags and a donk aren’t so fun when it wants to start cuddling while watching the House that Shonda Built on Thursday nights instead of popping it for a real…fucknword.  At the family bbq he saw he was bigger in her life than she was in his and it became clear that Tasha and her clan were not what Lawrence wanted for his life. Hell, even before then he told his co-workers that he had to “pick up some chairs” as opposed to attending his “girl’s” family que when they inquired bout his Saturday plans.  He makes a quick exit out of the bbq, telling the trusting Tasha that he has some work shit he needs to handle, then he kisses her goodbye – literally. He links up with his work folks, while poor Tasha texts him inquiring about his return to the festivities.  He finally takes her call and tells her she ain’t what he wants.  She rightfully calls bullshit and tells him what SO many men need to hear.  YOU ARE NOT A GOOD DUDE.  You are the worse.  A BAD DUDE THAT THINKS HE IS A GOOD DUDE.  Fucknword ass, Fucka.   Bye Tasha…I’m sure all the men will enjoy watching you walk away. Issa on the Stroll Since being freed by Molly’s reveal that Lawrence doesn’t want her, our girl is trying her best to ensure that her pussy doesn’t get broken.  We open the show with her in flagrante delecto with Johnnie Gill and his weird fingers.  After awkwardly fucking that up and getting zero action at the club where Molly takes her to hoe, she still needs to get that monkey off her back.  She goes home and we see one of the saddest moments in a woman life. Sadder than the loss of a first love.  Sadder than the moment she finds out she’s gonna bleed for the next 30 years of her life.  Sadder than seeing what micros do to your edges. Sadder than the stylist saying you still ain’t dry. The moment the batteries in your battery operated device betray you.  I dropped one lone gangsta tear at the sight of her rummaging for any power source she could find. Not to be defeated, our scrappy heroine refocuses and sets her sights on who can be a lady’s best friend: the hood boo.  Her neighbor, Dontcarehisname, has been looking like a Ritz cracker to a famished person and she concocts a way to get into his bed for the most cringe worthy start to a romp EVER.  First, he’s watching Gossip Girl.  Second, the removal of their clothes is a tragedy.  Third, and I want the fellas to lean in on this, he wants her legs to go into a direction that legs don’t normally go and for her head to be okay with being banged repeatedly into wood.  THIS IS NOT FUN FOR US. I’m not speaking for all women, but like 97% of them, who watched that scene and said “I hate that shit.”  But Ol Dontcare, got it together and she rode him into the sunset.  Issa leaves his house beaming….as her phone alerts her to her next bustdown. Session Notes: Raphael Saadiq’s music is the fourth lead on this show.  This man dug “Let’s Play House” out the crates.  Bless. JIDENNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.  Listen my love for him is true and deep.  I left my house at 11:30 post meridian to see him sing five songs at a Lollapalooza Aftershow, so you know it’s real.  When “Trampoline” came on in the club scene, I literally forgot I had to take notes.  I had to rewind that shit three times before I finally stopped dancing and started to pay attention. I see you, Myolly.  Yes. MYOLLY, that’s what I’m calling me and her. I see her tho. Oh, the sting of seeing that other woman get the help she so desperately needs from the person she so desperately wants it from. Ouch. Out here struggling on her own, but still not willing to settle. Delta Sigma Theta Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaade.  #badIssa Did Issa Rae & Co. really cast the black dude  that y’all be crying over every week as Molly’s date?  OKKKKKKKKKK! My heart stopped a brief moment when Issa almost passed out from the paint.  lol MOLLY: WE DO NOT TURN DOWN SZA TICKETS Editor’s Note:  I have asked not one, but TWO men, to join me on this ride in an attempt to provide an alternate view, altho I’ve heard enough bullshit from men that I could probably write it myself.  But, they did to me, what Lawrence did to Tasha….ghosted. SHOCKING RIGHT?  #dontatme Whatchall think?

Powerful Thoughts 4.7

Telling y’all right now – you’re gonna be mad at me.  I’m warning you.  I had empathy for Young Riq last night.  Well really Saturday, cuz I’m a nerd with ZERO LIFE who watches at the stroke of midnight.  ANYWAY….. As some of you may know, Executive Producer 50 Cent was miffed at Starz for not seeing the value in his runaway smash show.  Apparently Court & the Gang wanted 12 eps this season to fully flesh out their story and Starz said: NO BUENO. Take these 10 and beat it.  As a result, a lot of us along with 50 are slightly displeased with the pacing of the show.  This Tasha/Silver love is perplexing and out of nowhere.  Kanan turned on Jukebox rather quickly and conveniently.  No one really seems to care Ghost got out of prison.  Like when Tommy picked him and Tariq up.  That was his FIRST time seeing Ghost and not he aint even get that complicated (to me) ass handshake they do or an ebonically tinged “Welcome Home muthafuckah” or nothing.  But, we still love the shit, so…… The Emancipation of TashTash Season 1 Ghost made the mistake of putting Tasha in a box and perhaps he was right to do so at the time, but now Tasha is coming into her own.  She’s always been cunning and able to code switch, without question.  Now she is seeing who and what she and her life are sans Ghost.  Again, I’m not buying this Silver shit.  It’s inauthentic as fuck.  It wasn’t properly set up.  There were no knowing glances or a handshake with FUCK ME EYES.  He legit met her to prep her for testifying once Proctor was dismissed and the next time they met she was all “I need you.”  WHAT IN THE ENTIRE? No. And I don’t like that milk dude head of his.  I may be more for this if Larenz was in this role instead of the other, but whatevs. In this ep alone, Tasha put Ghost in his fucking place, got to show off her 3LW chops, stood tall in that farce of a tv interview, got a new big rock she can sell when Jamie and Silver both leave her, connected with her daughter and got that pussy dicked out (that is still funny, #RIP CO Darkness).  At the end of the day, she is a girl from the hood, but not totally of it and the person she is with Silver is exactly reflective of the transformation Ghost experienced becoming Jamie.  Them tight assed suits ain’t just fall out the sky. They were always in him.  This lady’s better weave was always in her.  C’mon somebody.  Holla if you hear me. Last Name Sandoval, First Name No Fux This muthafucka here!  The walls are closing in on the AUSAs – quickly.  Mak, the only person that wasn’t suspended, is on all of their asses like lil Duval on an unfunny ass joke. He has been keeping close tabs on the entire team, even going so far as to tap phones.  He knows that Saxe met with Beecher.  He knows that Donovan is the one that found the weapon and arrested James.  He knows that Sandoval has time alone in Truth that no one can account for and he tells him as much, cautioning him to not leave town. This last bit is what sends Sandoval over the edge.  After repeated events to get the rest of the feds to focus on the black man, Agent Donovan, Sandoval set out to tie up loose ends on his own.  He goes to Agent Donovan’s apartment with his silenced piece, I guess ready to shoot the man in his own crib WHICH WOULDN’T AROUSE ANY SUSPICION AT ALL, RIGHT? Unfortunately for him, Donovan’s daughter answers the door and lets him know her dad ain’t home.  The man he was attempting to kill is sitting with Angela, discovering that Sandoval went upstairs at Truth – alone.  Shoulda turned off them security cameras a WEE bit earlier, playa. The Age of Tariq Literally and figuratively.  My boy and I were talking and he said Tariq is old enough to be able to handle the truth.  Well, I don’t think he is out of elementary school yet, which puts him at no older than 14, but with the things life has been throwing at him lately, he should be mature enough to handle the truth – except those closest to him won’t give it to him.  This boy has been on a hell of a ride lately. Family destroyed. Lied to by nearly everyone. Hooked on drugs.  Father arrested for murder. Learned the truth about Shawn’s death. Manipulated by someone he trusted – and listen, this is a major point – he’s literally been fed the truth about his family by someone who has every right to hate his family. Ghost and Tasha fucked over Kanan.  They are NOT good people.  When he told Tommy it was becoming hard to figure out who was good and bad, that was spot on.  It’s a crushing reality when you find out your parents are people. I think there is a compulsion to look down on him, cuz we all hate him, but most teenagers are nefarious little pieces of shit caught between becoming who they are and still needing you to pay for the cell phone they use to call you and tell you how much they hate you.  The little steps most of us took to push back against our parents didn’t lead to a crazy lesbian holding us hostage with a gun to our heads.  It’s no wonder he wants to assert his independence and numb himself to everything going on around him. And sorry Raina, he aint going to no white ass Choate. Insecurities 2.2

“You hongry?” NOT AS MUCH AS YOU ARE THIRSTY, YOU THIRSTY SAHARA SPIRITED ARID TONGUED HEFFA! Got my pressure up and shit with that shit.  I hate this chick I hate this chick I hate this chick, Bart Simpson on the chalkboard level hate this chick. With that out the way, let’s discuss our Insecurities, shall we?  Cuz I know I saw some of mine, personal and professional – acted out on that screen last night. Lawrissa  So after this dude came and slipped her the hot beef injection, he has her on virtual radio silence.  She tried to sell it to her girls, ‘cept Molly, that they had a nice talk and are on the road to recovery. Cuz that’s what “after we break up sex” is, right ladies? A true blue indication that a man loves us above all others.  Swoon. Especially when he doesn’t even bother to call you after the dirty deed. This leads to fave Kelly revealing that our boyfriend is/was seeing some trick. And we know who that most hated heffa is don’t we?  Doing her very best Mya impersonation, Molly whips out her phone and three seconds later is on Trasha’s IG account. Swear that’s me. Seriously. Malibu. You give me a first name and partial hairstyle and I’m gonna find a bitch. ANY BITCH. Issa tries to act all above it, like she can’t be bothered to look at or show interest in her adversary.  But in them quiet alone moments, she is all of us….dying to not look at the page, but willing to die to see it.  She falls down the most brutal rabbit hole ever, starting at IG and ending on LinkedIn. She learns that Trasha works at Lawrence’s bank and goes down there to confront her…….or something.  In an obvious dream sequence, she “jalapeno pops” the fuck out of ol girl, but in reality, she literally falls back in her seat as Trasha walks by and then gets admonished by a parking lot cop for looking like she was sleeping in her car.  For shame.  She dispatches Molly to get some intel from Lawrence, who tells her that he has no interest in reuniting with Issa (or did he?). This leads our heroine to take back her life.  She spreads her clothes out in her closet.  She moves her pillow from “her side” to the middle of the bed.  And most importantly, she hits up the dating app of her choice and flies her freak flag. Lawasha I legit need to hire someone to write this part of the recap, cuz I just hate old girl so much.  But, I’ll try.  There she is, at her thirsty best, basic cable and chillin with a man who could care less about her outside her box.  He’s noticeably distracted, which her thirst really won’t let her see.  She’s so geeked up at her “conquest” that this bitch wanna start handing out invites to family affairs! Bitch don’t nobody want that sweet assed spaghetti!  Sit down and listen to K.dot.  She might as well have sprayed this nigga with thirstbucket repellent, cuz no sooner than she invites him to the fam bam, he tells her he slept with Issa. FACE CRACK. Well, even Stevie Wonder saw that coming – but Trasha?  Nope.  She’s so butt hurt, and I’m so happy, y’all. She thinks he should go, while I think he should have never come – either way. He does leave, but in his ever present weakened state, returns to apologize.  Like most trash, she offers the only thing she can beyond her box, which she is too prideful at the moment to offer, food.  “You Hongry?”  Of course he is, Trasha.  Weak niggas are always hungry. Molly I hope the next test I take on FB is “What Insecure character are you?”  I’m gonna get Molly for certain.  This was another segment of the show that spoke directly to me, as a woman grinding, surviving and thriving in corporate America.  Still smarting over the white boy earning more than her, Molly takes a different approach.  She’s not gonna be passive aggressive.  She’s not gonna go to HR. She’s not gonna go in the bathroom and cry.  She’s gonna be pro-active and bust up in that boys club.  She wrangles her way into the corporate suite at a hockey game and gets ta codeswitching. This is me. This is so many of us.  Watching her try to fit in – to find common ground with these old unbothered white men, to be noticed – was painful to watch, but she handled that shit like a G.  I’m sure she left out of that game floating…only to return to work with a resounding crash to earth.  Now da bossman doesn’t know her, doesn’t get the jokes they JUST shared, and makes her feel like shit for even trying.  Again, been there.  I’m rooting for her tho.    She found them bootstraps and pulled them up and will now be splitting her time between LA and Chicago, to work on a case with a woman that was just banished there from the LA office.  Molly is smart and capable, like SOMEONE WE KNOW VERY WELL AND SEE IN THE MIRROR EACH MORNING, so I know she’s gonna work this shit out in her favor – cuz black girls are magic. We Got Y’all An old black man was acting like an old black man much to a young white woman’s chagrin.  But hey, that old black man got some kids up in their program, so……suck it young white woman. Session Notes: Issa’s Last Poets sweater, tho. Mane n’ Tail got name dropped. This show is definitely written by black people, for everyone, but super shouts to black folks. “You hear that Brian McKnight?  Two bedrooms.  One for your sleeping, one for your feelings.”  Dude’s a dick in the best way. Raphael Saadiq is beasting on this soundtrack.  But what else would he do? How
